BetterHelp Auto Enrollment Investigation

Wittels McInturff Palikovic is investigating numerous complaints regarding BetterHelp’s potentially fraudulent practice of automatically enrolling consumers in pricey paid plans and charging recurring payments without consumers’ consent.

Upon investigation, evidence suggests that BetterHelp may have lured users into expensive subscription plans unknowingly with misleading promotional offers and a confusing enrollment process, obscuring the fact that BetterHelp enrolls consumers into monthly paid subscriptions.  Evidence further suggests that BetterHelp continues charging customers even when customers do not make appointments with BetterHelp therapists or otherwise use the company’s services.  WMP has already filed class actions against companies that have engaged in similar deceptive practices and may file similar lawsuits on behalf of BetterHelp users unwittingly roped into unwanted paid memberships to recover unauthorized charges and other damages.

BetterHelp touts that it provides “affordable” therapy and touts widespread media coverage of its services.  But consumer complaints describe BetterHelp as a “fraud company,” a “scam” that “steals your money,” and accuse the company of being “thieves.”  These complaints allege that BetterHelp users are unaware that they will continue being charged by BetterHelp even if they don’t use its services.  Users also say that the company refuses to provide refunds.  Other consumers say that it is difficult to get in contact with BetterHelp customer service to cancel an account, and that even after canceling their subscription they continue to be charged large monthly fees.

If you were enrolled in a BetterHelp membership and were charged recurring payments by BetterHelp without your knowledge or consent, you are not alone!  We urge you to contact a class action attorney at WMP for a free case evaluation. Should a lawsuit be brought, there is no cost or fee involved in joining the case. You can contact us by clicking here, calling (914) 775-8862, or emailing us at case@wittelslaw.com.
