Semrush Hidden Charges and Autorenewal Investigation

Wittels McInturff Palikovic is investigating numerous complaints regarding Semrush’s potentially illegal practice of providing allegedly misleading pricing information on its website, then charging customers amounts far higher than indicated during the enrollment process.  WMP is also investigating complaints that Semrush is engaged in the potentially fraudulent practice of enrolling customers in free trials that automatically convert into pricey paid plans, charging recurring payments without consumers’ consent, then making it difficult and confusing to cancel those automatically renewing memberships to prevent consumers from stopping payments to Semrush.

Upon investigation, evidence suggests that Semrush may have designed its enrollment process so as to entice consumers into signing up for Semrush plans that cost far more than the advertised price and hiding the true pricing in fine print that is designed to be overlooked by consumers.

Consumer complaints accuse Semrush of being a “dodgy” company that uses “misleading subscription” business practices.  Consumers claim that Semrush charges their payment method without authorization.  Consumers further accuse Semrush of being “the worst of the worst,” “scammers,” “con artists,” “cheaters,” and “untruthful.”  Consumers say that although it is simple to sign up with Semrush, the company intentionally hides cancellation options to make it unreasonably difficult to stop payment to Semrush.  Tactics like the ones used by Semrush to prevent users from cancelling subscriptions have been dubbed “dark patterns” by experts.

If you are or were previously a Semrush customer and you were charged without your knowledge or consent, or had difficulty trying to cancel your membership, you are not alone!  We urge you to contact a class action attorney at WMP for a free case evaluation.  Should a lawsuit be brought, there is no cost or fee involved in joining the case.  You can contact us by clicking here, calling (914) 775-8862, or emailing us at case@wittelslaw.com.
